What does Anusara mean?

Anusara means "flowing with grace".

This style of yoga reminds us to look for the good in each pose and each situation, to be fully present with life in the good days and the challenging ones.

When I signed up for yoga teacher training in Park City, Utah, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I often say that I felt like a "kindergartner in a college class". Everyone else in the training had so much more experience than I had.

My 26 year marriage had just ended in divorce, I felt abandoned, betrayed, sad, lost, frustrated, angry and unloved.  I was rebuilding my life and my self-esteem. My yoga Kula (community) helped me to find happiness again.

Anusara School of Hatha Yoga's Vision Statement is
"Awakening hearts, illuminating minds, strengthening bodies–from the roots of yoga and in recognition of the sacred in all beings."

The lessons that I learned in my trainings reminded me that I could find Joy in my life again.

Each class that I teach begins with the reminder of finding the "good" in our lives. I hope to help my students in their journey to happiness. I believe that we can all come home to ourselves and find peace and happiness again.
